【1996年】エスター・ヘンウッド作「クロコダイルのクロヴィス」― 童話三部作が描くもう一つのエルメス

デザイナー紹介:エスター・ヘンウッド

「クロコダイルのクロヴィス」を手がけたのは、エルメスのカレを数多く手がけてきたデザイナー、エスター・ヘンウッド(Esther Henwood)。子供のための童話をモチーフにした作品を得意とし、愛らしい絵柄の中に大人でもハッとするような物語性を織り込むのが持ち味のデザイナーです。

1996年生まれの童話三部作

【クロコダイルのクロヴィス】は1996年に発表された童話三部作シリーズの一つです。 このシリーズでは

• 【浮気なインコ】
• 【クロコダイルのクロヴィス】

の三話が販売されました。三枚それぞれが独立した物語でありながら、シリーズとして揃えたくなる魅力を持っています。

「えっ」と驚く、大人も惹き込まれる童話

いずれもエスター・ヘンウッド作の、子供のための童話がモチーフになっています。 ただし単なる可愛らしいお話にとどまらず、思わず「えっ」と声が出るような展開が用意されているのがこのシリーズの面白いところ。愛らしい絵柄の奥に、大人が読んでもハッとするような深みのある物語が込められています。

Today, we would like to introduce a rather unusual Hermès Carré: “Clovis the Crocodile,” one of a charming fairy-tale series first released in 1996.

About the Designer: Esther Henwood

“Clovis the Crocodile” was created by Esther Henwood, a designer who created numerous Hermès Carrés.

Henwood was particularly known for designs inspired by fairy tales for children. Her distinctive style combines charming, playful illustrations with stories that can offer surprisingly thought-provoking moments even for adults.

A Fairy-Tale Trilogy from 1996

“Clovis the Crocodile” is one of three fairy-tale designs introduced by Hermès in 1996.
