デザイナー紹介:ジュリー・アバティ

デザインを手がけたのは、ギリシャにルーツを持つデザイナー、ジュリー・アバティ(Julie Abadie)。エルメスのカレ「コーチング」なども手がけている作家で、モチーフの中にさりげなく自身の名前を忍ばせるユーモアでも知られています。

モチーフはビザンチン建築とモザイクの荘厳さ

「ビザンチンの空」は、ビザンチン美術・建築の壮麗さへのオマージュとして作られたデザイン。幾何学模様やアラベスク文様、様式化された鳥のモチーフが、豪奢なジャカードシルクの中に緻密に織り込まれています。黒・ゴールド・ホワイトを基調にした配色は、古代のモザイクやドームの天井が持つ荘厳な輝きを思わせる仕上がりです。

今回ご紹介する黄色地の一枚も、刺繍によってその文様がより立体的に際立つ、印象的な仕上がりとなっています。

Today, we are pleased to introduce “Ciels Byzantins” (Byzantine Skies), a Hermès Carré 90 featuring an exquisite embroidered design on a vibrant yellow background.

About the Designer: Julie Abadie

The design was created by Julie Abadie, a designer with Greek heritage.

She has created several Hermès Carrés, including “Coaching,” and is also known for her playful sense of humor—occasionally concealing her own name subtly within her designs.

The Grandeur of Byzantine Architecture and Mosaics

“Ciels Byzantins” was created as an homage to the splendor of Byzantine art and architecture.

Intricate geometric patterns, arabesque motifs, and stylized birds are woven into the luxurious jacquard silk with remarkable precision.

The predominantly black, gold, and white palette evokes the solemn brilliance of ancient mosaics and the magnificent interiors of Byzantine domes.

The yellow-ground version featured here is particularly striking. The delicate embroidery gives the intricate motifs greater depth and dimension, creating an especially captivating finish.
