デザイナー紹介:フランソワーズ・ド・ラ・ペリエール

手がけたのはフランソワーズ・ド・ラ・ペリエール(Françoise de la Perrière)。エルメスのカレを長年手がけてきたデザイナーの一人で、馬具や乗馬文化をモチーフにした作品を数多く生み出しています。

創業者ティエリー・エルメスへのオマージュ

「馬勒(はろく)」とは、馬を馬車に繋ぐための一式の馬具のこと。数多くのバックルを含むこの複雑な装備に着想を得て、1970年代末、フランソワーズ・ド・ラ・ペリエールが「エミール・エルメス・コレクション」に保存されていた品々を参考に構成したのが「ブークルリー・ダットゥラージュ」というデザインでした。これは、エルメスの創業者であり、パリの馬具職人だったティエリー・エルメスの家業への敬意を込めたものです。

その後、このオリジナルデザインを現代的に解釈し、フラットな配色と大胆な輪郭線でスタイリッシュに再構成したのが「ブークルリー・モデルヌ」。伝統的なモチーフでありながら、モダンな印象を持つ一枚に仕上がっています。

エルメスの原点を身にまとう

【Inspired in the 1970s】Françoise de la Perrière’s “Bouclerie Moderne” — Equestrian Buckles as a Tribute to the Founder

Today, we are pleased to introduce “Bouclerie Moderne” (Modern Buckles), a Hermès Carré 90 inspired by the house’s origins in harness-making and equestrian craftsmanship.

About the Designer: Françoise de la Perrière

The design was created by Françoise de la Perrière, one of the long-standing designers who contributed extensively to the Hermès Carré.

She created numerous designs inspired by horse harnesses and equestrian culture, reflecting the deep connection between Hermès and its origins as a maker of fine saddlery.

A Tribute to Thierry Hermès, the Founder of the House

A horse bridle and harness refers to the collection of equipment used to control and harness a horse, including numerous buckles and other intricate fittings.

Inspired by these complex and highly functional pieces of equestrian equipment, Françoise de la Perrière created “Bouclerie d’Attelage” in the late 1970s, drawing inspiration from pieces preserved in the Émile Hermès Collection.

The design was conceived as a tribute to the heritage of Thierry Hermès, the founder of the house and a Parisian harness maker, honoring the craft at the very heart of Hermès’ origins.

The original design was later reinterpreted in a more contemporary style to create “Bouclerie Moderne.”

With its flat blocks of color and bold outlines, the intricate harness motifs were transformed into a strikingly modern composition.

The result is a Carré that combines traditional equestrian heritage with a distinctly modern aesthetic.

Wearing the Origins of Hermès

What makes this Carré particularly fascinating is the transformation of a purely functional object—the buckle of a horse harness—into an elegant work of art.

Every motif recalls the craftsmanship from which Hermès was born, allowing you to wear not only a beautiful silk scarf, but also a small piece of the house’s history.
